Venlafaxine, an antidepressant (mood elevator), is used to treat depression.
Important Warning: Before you take venlafaxine, tell your doctor if you are taking or have taken within the last 2 weeks any MAO inhibitors [phenelzine (Nardil) or tranylcypromine (Parnate)]. You should not take venlafaxine if you are taking either of these medications.
