The combination of amoxicillin, a penicillin-like antibiotic, and clavulanate potassium is used to treat bacterial infections of the ear, lungs, nose, sinus, skin, and urinary tract. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
